***TRAFFIC ALERT*** STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE TWO PARK AND RIDES FOR RESURFACING IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

​Work to Begin Wednesday on US 40 Auto Mall and Downsville Pike Locations 

(September 23, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to resurface two park and rides in Washington County starting September 25, requiring temporary closures of each park and ride in order to resurface and stripe. The projects should be complete by October 3, weather permitting.  

All cars must be removed from the park and rides by 6 p.m. or they will be towed at the owner's expense. Crews will use two portable message boards along the highway, as well as flyers to notify motorists in advance. Drivers can click here to locate other nearby park and rides.  

The affected park and rides are as follows:  

US 40 Auto Mall park and ride Click for Map 

  • ​Closing Thursday, September 26 at 6 p.m. 
  • Park and ride to reopen on Wednesday, October 2 at 6 a.m.  ​

  • Closing Thursday, September 26 at 6 p.m. 
  • Park and ride to reopen Wednesday, October 4 at 6 a.m.
