Expect Overnight Closure, Ramp Detour from MD 439 (Old York Road) to Northbound I-83

(September 12, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close and detour the interchange ramp from MD 439 (Old York Road) to northbound I-83 (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway) beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, September 15. The work should be complete by 5 a.m. Monday morning, weather permitting.

Crews will replace a concrete drainage system inlet collar on the interchange ramp. While the interchange ramp is closed, motorists will be detoured from Westbound MD 439 to northbound MD 45 (York Road), then proceeding on eastbound Freeland Road to reach the interchange ramp to northbound I-83.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, C. J. Miller LLC of Hampstead, will perform the concrete inlet work.  In case of inclement weather September 15, the work will be done on Sunday, September 22 or the next possible Sunday night.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
