Bridge Reconstruction Project Substantially Complete
(September 5, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will reopen MD 16 (Harmony Road) at Mill Creek in Caroline County this Friday, September 6, weather permitting.
SHA replaced the bridge “superstructure” (deck, ride surface and supporting beams), extending the bridge’s reliable service life by several decades. The project required a complete closure of MD 16 at Mill Creek, just east of Denton.
Drivers may see occasional single-lane closures and flagging over the next few weeks as crews finish minor project work and restore the area around the bridge.
The State Highway Administration thanks motorists, residents, business owners and Caroline County Government for their patience and support during this project.
Remember schools are just back in session – be extra alert for pedestrians and stopped buses.
