Closure Needed Friday, September 6 for Monitoring Equipment Removal

(September 3, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will remove monitoring and data collection equipment from the US 301 bridge over Chester River at the Queen Anne’s/Kent County line on Friday, September 6 beginning at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

This work requires a total closure and detour of northbound US 301 for one day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The detour is MD 544 east to MD 313 north to MD 291 west back to US 301 north. Southbound US 301 traffic will not be affected by this work.

Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the detour routes. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time on the detour route through the town of Millington. Powers Lane and Rings End Road will be accessed via Pfalzgroff Road during the closure period.

The State Highway Administration understands that lane closures and detours are inconvenient, but they are needed to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes, and slowdown in construction zones. Remember schools are just back in session – be extra alert for pedestrians and stopped buses.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
