Through December, Motorists Can Expect Traffic Delays During Work Hours

(August 21, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin improving the ride quality on US 113 Business (Market Street) from MD 12 (Church Street) to Timmons Street near Snow Hill next week. The project should be completed by December, weather permitting.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday August 28, crews will begin milling (removing the top layer of asphalt) the roadway to prepare for paving. Work will continue weekdays, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. During work hours, motorists can expect single-lane closures and flagging operations.

Contractor Allan Myers of Dover, Del. will use arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Drivers should expect major traffic impacts with significant delays during work hours.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.  Hot asphalt may require up to two hours to cool before drivers and pedestrians can safely cross the new road surface. Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the project.
