Daytime Ramp Closure and Detour to MD 223 Exit Required During Work
(July 30, 2024) The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will detour traffic the
MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) northbound ramp to MD 980D (Ritchie Marlboro Road) in Upper Marlboro beginning Thursday, August 1. The ramp closure is necessary to perform inlet repairs along the ramp. The repairs will take approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Crews will close the ramp weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic will be detoured using northbound MD 4 to the next exit onto MD 223 (Woodyard Road), where drivers can make a right turn onto Old Marlboro Pike before continuing onto Ritchie Marlboro Road. Electronic message boards are in place along MD 4 northbound to alert drivers to the road conditions ahead.
Contractor Concrete General Inc., of Gaithersburg, will perform the repairs. Customers with questions may contact the State Highway Administration’s District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
