Motorists Can Expect Overnight Lane Closures, Flagging Operations Through Early Fall

(July 23, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin improving the pavement on a one-mile section of MD 543 (Riverside Parkway) south of I-95 (John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway) in Harford County on Sunday, July 28. The $1.1-million project will be complete by early fall, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, crews will patch, mill and resurface asphalt pavement on MD 543 from the I-95 interchange to Brass Mill Road. They will continue to work overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. During work hours, motorists can expect single-lane closures on MD 543, with flagging operations in effect on the two-lane portion of MD 543.

The paving work on MD 543 is part of the State Highway Administration’s highway maintenance program to improve safety and ride quality of pavements on state highways within Harford County. Contractor Allan Myers MD, Inc. of Fallston will perform the paving work.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
