(June 13, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, as part of its project to rehabilitate 10 bridges at the I-95/I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) interchange in the Arbutus, will have overnight multiple-lane closures the week of June 16. All lanes and ramps will reopen no later than 5 a.m. each morning. The work is weather permitting.

Beginning June 16, there will be a single-lane closure on northbound I-95 at I-695 at 7 p.m., a double lane closure at 9 p.m. and a triple-lane closure at midnight. The overnight work is necessary for asphalt pavement resurfacing work at the interchange.

Drivers should expect significant overnight delays at the southwest I-695 interchange with I-95 in Arbutus. Overnight ramp and lane closures are scheduled as follows.

During lane and ramp closures, motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Crews will use digital message boards, temporary signs and barrels to direct drivers safely through the nighttime work zone. MDOT SHA contractor Wagman Heavy Civil Inc., of York, Pa., will perform the work.

More information on the project is available here. Customers with questions about this project or other construction work on state-maintained roads in Baltimore County may call the MDOT SHA District 4 Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
