Starting Sunday, Motorists Can Expect 24-Hour Right-Turn Closure/Detour through July
(June 7, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, in conjunction with the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), will begin a temporary 24-hour closure and detour of the right-turn from northbound MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) to eastbound Singer Road beginning Sunday June 9 at 6 p.m. This closure and detour will be in effect 24-hours a day through mid-July, weather permitting.
The closure will allow crews to safely replace a 35-foot section of damaged corrugated metal pipe at the southeast corner of the intersection with a new reinforced concrete pipe. The other turns at the MD 24/Singer Road intersection will not be affected.
Drivers traveling from northbound MD 24 to eastbound Singer Road will be directed to use eastbound Wheel Road to southbound MD 924 (Emmorton Road) to proceed back to Singer Road. The Maryland Transportation Authority’s contractor, Allan Myers – MD, Inc. of Fallston, will use temporary traffic signs, arrow boards, barrels and cones to guide drivers safely through the highway work zone and detour.
