Motorists Should Expect Traffic to be Detoured June 10 through June 14
(June 6, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to remove debris that has accumulated under the
MD 68 Bridge over Conococheague Creek in Williamsport beginning June 10. The project is expected to be complete by Friday, June 14, weather permitting.
Drivers will be detoured during work hours. Local traffic will be allowed through the area.
MD 68 will be closed at US 11 and at Cedar Ridge Road. The detour routes will be as follows:
- For westbound MD 68: Drivers will be directed to northbound US 11 (Potomac Street) to northbound MD 63 (N. Artizan Street), to westbound US 40 (National Pike) to northbound Cedar Ridge Road and back to MD 68.
- For eastbound MD 68: Drivers will be directed to Cedar Ridge Road to eastbound US 40 to southbound MD 63 to southbound US 11 and back to MD 68.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Concrete General, Inc. of Hagerstown, will use cones, barrels, and signs to guide motorists through the detour.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during this necessary work to maintain and improve Maryland’s transportation system and keep it in a state of good repair. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, and slowdown in work zones.
