Single-Lane Closures Overnight Through June 2024
(April 29, 2024) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin final paving this week on US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) between Campus Drive and MD 193 (University Boulevard) on April 30 in College Park, Prince George’s County. The work will be complete in early June, weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 p.m., crews will begin milling (removing the top layer of asphalt) the road surface in preparation for final paving. Single lanes will be closed in both directions on US 1, Sundays through Thursdays, from 7:00 p.m. until approximately 6:00 a.m. the next morning. Additional daytime and evening lane closures may be necessary to expedite this work.
This work is part of the US 1 College Park Improvement Project, which will support current and future development and improve traffic operations and safety for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians along US 1. Ardent Company, LLC of McLean, Virginia, is performing the work.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move over in work zones. It’s the law. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for assistance.
Customers who have questions may contact the SHA District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.
