Through June, Motorists Should Expect Traffic Delays During Work Hours
(April 10, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a resurfacing project to improve the ride quality on MD 336 (Lakesville Road) between Blackwater Road and Andrews Road this week in Church Creek. The work should be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
On Friday, April 12, crews will begin milling (removing the top layer of asphalt) the roadway to prepare for paving. Crews will work weekdays, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. During work hours, motorists can expect single-lane closures throughout the duration of the project.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, George & Lynch of Dover, Del., will use arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Drivers should expect major traffic impacts with significant delays during work hours.
The department understands that roadwork will inconvenience travelers and asks all motorists to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone. Hot asphalt may require up to two hours to cool before drivers and pedestrians can safely cross the new road surface. Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the project.
