New Sidewalks to Connect Bicyclists, Pedestrians to Town of Hurlock
(April 2, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is beginning construction on a $1.1 million project to install new bicycle-pedestrian facilities in Dorchester County along MD 392 (Delaware Avenue) from MD 331 (Main Street) to west of Taylor Avenue in the Town of Hurlock.
The project is expected to be complete in 2026, weather permitting, and includes:
- construction of a new American with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalk along MD 392 to connect to the existing asphalt path,
- updating drainage and stormwater management facilities,
- upgraded signage and pavement markings and
- curb and gutter improvements.
During construction, single-lane closures with flagging operations will be in effect along MD 392 during peak and off-peak periods. Work times may be adjusted pending the project schedule. Contractor FLB Contractors Inc., of Baltimore an MDOT-certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise will perform the work. Learn more about the project

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers¿ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland's transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, focused, and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move in work zones. It is the law. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for assistance.
