Projects will Cover 15 Miles of Roadway Across Howard County
(March 21, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will start roadway improvements on
MD 99 (Old Frederick Road) between MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) and US 29 (Columbia Pike) next week, along with similar projects on four other roadways in Howard County. All work is expected to be complete by early summer, weather permitting.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 25, crews will close one lane of traffic on MD 99 to safely repair depressions and cracks on the driving surface. A flagging operation will be used to maintain two-way direction. The work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to MD 99, motorists can expect to see work taking place at the following locations:
- MD 94 (Woodbine Road) at the Annapolis Rock Road intersection;
- MD 103 (Montgomery Road) over US 29;
- MD 32 and the Linden Church Road interchange; and
- MD144 (Frederick Rd) between MD 94 and MD 32.
Similar to the MD 99 improvements, the work on MD 94 and MD 144 has daytime work hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The schedules for the MD 103 and MD 32 repairs are overnight, Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The contractors will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the single-lane closures and work zones.
