Project will Close One Ramp Every Weekend Through Early November

(October 11, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin repairs to the concrete ramps at the MD 27 (Railroad Avenue/Manchester Road) and MD 140 (Baltimore Boulevard) interchange in Westminster beginning Friday, October 13. The concrete ramp improvement project should be complete by November 6, weather permitting.

Starting Friday at 9 p.m., crews will close the northbound MD 27 ramp to eastbound MD 140 to make repairs to the concrete road surface. The work includes repairing depressions and cracks to improve safety on the ramp. The ramp closure will be in effect until 5 a.m. on Monday, October 16. The project will make repairs to the remaining three ramps every weekend until November 6. The weekend work will close one ramp per weekend from 9 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. the following Monday.

During the weekend work, motorists on northbound MD 27 will be detoured to Hahn Road which becomes Englar Road to access eastbound MD 140. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra commuting time during work.

The contractor, MIM Construction, Inc. of Mount Airy, will use electronic message boards, signs, and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone and detour route. The State Highway Administration understands ramp closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system and we ask drivers to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone.
