Daytime Lane Closures in Effect on Northbound MD 924 Weekdays This Fall

(September 20, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will replace sections of concrete sidewalk and improve highway drainage along northbound MD 924 (South Main Street/Emmorton Road) between Ring Factory Road and Victory Lane in south Bel Air beginning Thursday, September 21. The project should be complete late fall, weather permitting.

While work is taking place, motorists can expect single-lane closures along northbound MD 924 weekdays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Paniaguas Enterprises Inc of Baltimore, will use temporary traffic signs and reflective cones to guide drivers safely through the work zone.

On the section of MD 924 near Forest Drive, crews will conduct the following activities:

  • Replace five sections of sidewalk;
  • Clean existing drainage structures and pipes;
  • Replace tops of drainage inlets;
  • Install pea gravel outfalls behind the sidewalk.

Between Victory Lane and Fairmont Drive, crews will replace five sections of sidewalk and clean existing drainage structures and pipes.

The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.

Customers may contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office Maintenance Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 for additional information.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
