Roadway Milling, Patching and Resurfacing Underway
(September 13, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is resurfacing two sections of MD 22 (Aberdeen Thruway/Harford Boulevard) in Aberdeen. The $1 million highway maintenance project should be complete by early fall, weather permitting.
Crews are milling (removing the top layer of asphalt), paving and restriping MD 22 between west of Mt. Royal Avenue and the bridge over Amtrak rail lines. This section of work includes the ramps from each direction of MD 22 to US 40 (Pulaski Highway/South Philadelphia Boulevard) and the westbound MD 22 ramps to and from North Rogers Street. The second section of MD 22 to be improved is between east of Old Post Road and East Bel Air Avenue/Research Boulevard.
During the paving work, overnight temporary single lane closures on MD 22 and temporary traffic shifts on ramps and turn lanes may take place Sunday through Thursday nights, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Allan Myers of MD, Inc. of Fallston, will use temporary traffic signs to guide drivers safely through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
Customers may contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office Maintenance Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 for additional information.
