​BGE is on the scene securing the line; drivers are detoured around the incident 

(July 24, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is assisting BGE with detours associated with a six-inch natural gas line that was struck earlier today. Currently, eastbound MD 140 is closed and detoured at WMC Drive and westbound.

MD 140 is closed and detoured at Sullivan Road.  

The gas line was struck on eastbound MD 140 near the bridge over MD 97 (Littlestown Pike). Crews are working to open lanes on westbound MD 140, but the eastbound lanes of MD 140 may be closed through late this evening. Drivers should plan for extra commuting time during the utility repair.
