Contractor will Install New Power Lines Across US 50 May 23-25;Several 10-Minute Closures in Each Direction Will Be Required
(May 19, 2023) – A utility contractor will install new power wires across US 50 (Ocean Gateway) just east of the US 301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) split near Queenstown in Queen Anne’s County over the course of three days next week beginning Tuesday, May 23.
The work will require several brief traffic holds – up to 10 minutes – each day during non-peak hours, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. The traffic holds will be implemented by the utility contractor and the Maryland State Police. For each traffic hold, police and contractor personnel will stop all traffic in both directions of US 50.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel along US 50 near the Queenstown Outlets. This utility work is part of a Delmarva Power transmission line project which includes pole and wire upgrades along US 50.
The State Highway Administration maintains safety in work zones for our crews as well as motorists. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes, and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
