Paving Begins May 14; Overnight Work Designed to Minimize Travel Impacts

(May 11, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project this Sunday to improve approximately 1.5 miles of MD 404 (Shore Highway) in Caroline County. Crews will mill, patch, pave and stripe from Bullock Road to the Delaware state line. The work should be complete by early June, weather permitting.

Drivers can expect nighttime single-lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. Contractor David A. Bramble Inc., of Chestertown, will use a flagging operation, cones and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork can be an inconvenience, but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
