Traffic Detour Required April 21-23; Motorists Should Plan Extra Travel Time

(April 19, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will have a detour in place April 21-23 as crews from CSX perform track maintenance at the railroad crossing on MD 85 (Buckeystown Pike) between English Muffin Way and Lime Kiln Road. The CSX track work will begin 10 p.m. Friday, April 21, and is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. Sunday, April 23, weather permitting.

While work is underway, drivers on northbound MD 85 will be directed to Manor Woods Road to New Design Road and back to MD 85. Motorists on southbound MD 85 will be directed to English Muffin Way south to New Design Road and back to MD 85. CSX will perform the work. Drivers are asked to slow down through the work zone for the safety of all crews.

As the spring season arrives, drivers are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. Remember, motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Look twice and save a life.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
