Work Requires Overnight Single-Lane and Ramp Closures

(April 6, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin overnight work next week to improve the driving surface of both directions of MD 75 (Green Valley Road) between Baldwin Road and MD 144 (Old National Pike) in New Market, Frederick County. The work includes the approaches to the MD 75 bridge over I-70. The project is expected to be complete by the end of April, weather permitting.

The work will be conducted weeknights, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning. Starting at 10 p.m. Monday, April 10, crews will close the southbound lane to repair depressions and cracks. A flagging operation will maintain both directions of travel for motorists.

During the overnight work, the exit ramps from eastbound I-70 to MD 75 will be closed. A detour will direct motorists on eastbound I-70 to the MD 27 (Ridge Road) exit, then to westbound I-70 to access MD 75. When the southbound lane work is complete in approximately one week, crews will switch to the northbound lane.

Contractor F.O. Day Company, based in Rockville, will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the lane closure and guide them through the work zone.

As spring arrives, all motorists are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
