Project Spans More Than Three Miles; Motorists Should Allow Extra Time

(August 19, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project on Monday, August 22, to improve the driving surface and drainage along more than 3 miles of MD 30 (Hanover Pike) between MD 86 (Lineboro Road) and the Maryland/Pennsylvania state line.

Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, flagging crews will guide motorist through the MD 30 work zone as crews repair the pavement and restore the underdrain to prevent water from accumulating under the pavement. Crews will work 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Crews will not work Friday, September 2, and Monday, September 5, due to the Labor Day holiday.

MDOT SHA contractor C.J. Miller LLC, of Hampstead, will use signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the flagging operation and guide them through the work zone. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destinations.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
