(July 24, 2009) – CSX Transportation and the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close eastbound and westbound MD 132 (West Bel Air Avenue) at the CSX railroad crossing for five days, beginning on or about 8 a.m. Monday, July 27.  The five-day closure will allow CSX Transportation to safely repair the railroad tracks at the crossing.

Beginning 8 a.m. Monday, July 27 SHA and CSX will close the rail crossing to all traffic.  Westbound MD 132 traffic will be detoured at North Rogers Street to MD 22 (Aberdeen Thruway) to MD 462 (Paradise Road) back to MD 132.   Eastbound MD 132 traffic will be detoured at MD 462 to MD 22 to North Rogers Street back to MD 132.

Weather permitting, the work will be complete in five days and the rail crossing will be open to traffic approximately 7 p.m. Friday, July 31.

SHA advises motorists traveling through Aberdeen between I-95 (John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway) and US 40 (Pulaski Highway) to use MD 22 as an alternative route to MD 132.   Motorists traveling within Aberdeen are encouraged to plan ahead for travel delays on MD 132 east and west of the rail crossing and the detour routes.

Citizens who have questions about MD 132 or any other State numbered highways in Harford County should call SHA’s District 4 office at 410-229-2300 or toll free at 1-866-998-0367.  Citizens who have questions about CSX rail operations in Maryland may call 1-877-835-5279 or log onto www.csx.com to send e-mail messages to CSX.
