Section of Mayberry Road to Close for Pipe Installation and Roadway Widening; Closure in Effect Through Summer Months

(June 16, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin work on Monday, June 20, to improve drainage on MD 140 (Taneytown Pike) at Mayberry Road near Westminster in Carroll County. The work is part of a $4 million project to widen the roadway to include new turn-lane configurations at this intersection.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, crews will close Mayberry Road between MD 140 and MD 832 (Old Taneytown Road). The closure is expected to be in effect until Thursday, Sept. 1.

During the closure, crews will remove the existing underground drainage pipes across Mayberry Road, south of the MD 140 intersection, and install new pipes. They will also widen this section of Mayberry Road and the shoulder.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Kibler Construction Company, Inc. of Finksburg, will use barrels, cones and signs to alert motorists about the closure and guide them through the detour using
MD 832. Local access to the closed section of Mayberry Road will be maintained at MD 832 only, not from MD 140.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.  Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
