Crews Will Begin Work on Thursday, June 2; Lot Will Reopen June 6

(May 25, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will temporarily close the MD 66 (Mapleville Road) park and ride lot in Hagerstown, Washington County, next week to conduct a repaving project.

Beginning Thursday, June 2, crews will mill, patch and repave the lot, which is located at Interstate 70 and MD 66. Weather permitting, the MD 66 lot will reopen for the morning commute Monday, June 6. All vehicles must be removed by 6 p.m. Thursday or they will be towed at the owner's expense. During the closure, motorists may want to access the other park and ride lots located along the MD 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) Exchange.

The repaving will be performed as part of an areawide paving project. Crews will use two portable message boards along the highway to notify motorists about the project. MDOT SHA contractor C. William Hetzer, of Hagerstown, will handle the work.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
