Overnight Resurfacing Work Will Continue Through Mid-June
(May 13, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project Sunday, May 15, to resurface nearly two miles of US 1 Business (Belair Road/Baltimore Pike) in the Bel Air area of Harford County. The overnight work is expected to be complete by mid-June, weather permitting.
Starting Sunday night, MDOT SHA contractor crews will patch, mill and resurface pavement on US 1 Business from MD 147 (Harford Road) to Tollgate Road. As part of the project, crews will work overnight with single-lane closures and a flagging operation in effect between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday evenings through Friday mornings.
During overnight work hours, temporary traffic signs, reflective barrels and electronic arrow boards will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone. MDOT SHA contractor Gray and Son Inc., of Timonium, will perform the pavement work.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
