US 1 Sign
(March 29, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will work overnight to activate a new traffic signal at US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) and Campus Drive in the College Park area of Prince George’s County. Crews will begin work at 9 p.m. Thursday, April 14, and the new traffic signal will be fully operational by 5 a.m. Friday, April 15. Weather delayed the start from the original April 1.
During the signal activation Thursday night, the left turn lane for northbound and southbound US 1 will be closed. Maryland State Police will be on site to help maintain traffic. Traffic headed eastbound and westbound on Campus Drive will only be able to make right turns onto US 1.
The traffic signal work is part of the US 1 from College Avenue to MD 193 (University Boulevard) construction project, which is expected to be completed by late summer 2023.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
