Northbound I-83 Work Zone Lane Shift Scheduled for Tuesday Night
(November 16, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is continuing work on its $25.6 million project to replace bridges carrying I-83 North and South (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway) over Padonia Road in the Timonium area of Baltimore County.
Tonight, Tuesday, November 16, crews will move concrete traffic barriers, apply new pavement markings and shift all three lanes on I-83 North over Padonia Road to the left and into the pre-construction traffic pattern. The traffic lane shift work will require overnight lane and shoulder closures along I-83 North in the vicinity of the Padonia Road interchange. A single right lane closure will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a double lane closure between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday.
MDOT SHA and the contractor also will temporarily close and detour Padonia Road underneath the I-83 bridges between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, with posted detours in effect:
- I-83 South to Padonia Road East: Take I-83 South past the Padonia Road interchange to the Timonium Road interchange. Turn left at end of ramp onto Timonium Road East, turn right onto I-83 North and proceed on I-83 North to the Padonia Road interchange.
- I-83 North to Padonia Road West: Take I-83 North to Padonia Road East, turn right onto Deereco Road/Greenspring Drive South and turn right onto Timonium Road West. Proceed on Timonium Road West, turn right onto Jenifer Road North and proceed on Jenifer Road to Padonia Road.
