Work Includes Tree Trimming on Inner Loop Ramp to Clara Barton Parkway
(October 6, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will conduct work this weekend to improve visibility along I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Montgomery County by trimming trees and other vegetation on the Inner Loop ramp from I-495 to exit 41 (Clara Barton Parkway). MDOT SHA expects the trimming operation to occur between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10.
For the safety of work crews and the traveling public, the work will require a full ramp closure and detour. During the ramp closure, motorists will be detoured to use exit 39 for MD 190 (River Road) and southbound I-495 to access Clara Barton Parkway. Drivers should allow extra time traveling in this area. MDOT SHA’s Gaithersburg Shop is using electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the emergency work, ramp closure and detour.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists can dial #77 or 911 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
