US 1 Bridge over Sulphur Spring Road to be Rehabilitated; Public is Encouraged to Attend Meeting to Learn About Traffic Operations During Construction

What:
SHA will host an Informational Public Meeting about upcoming improvements to the US 1 (Southwestern Boulevard) Bridge over Sulphur Spring Road in Halethorpe, Baltimore County. SHA representatives will be available to answer questions about the project and potential traffic impacts during construction. Display areas will be set up showing traffic management plans during reconstruction.
When:
Wednesday, January 9, 2008 between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Why:
The bridge, built in 1947, is in need of rehabilitation. The project involves replacing the bridge’s concrete deck, steel beams, a portion of the bridge abutments and lighting. The work will extend the life of the bridge an additional 30 to 50 years. Work is scheduled to begin spring 2008 and be complete by the end of the year, weather permitting.
