Overnight Work Starting September 12 will Resurface More Than a Mile of Roadway

(September 9, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will improve the roadway surface on MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) between the Anne Arundel County line, south of Dorsey Run Road, and US 1 in the Savage area in Howard County beginning Sunday, September 12.

Crews will work overnight Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning patching potholes and resurfacing both directions of MD 32. The $1.5 million project is expected to be complete this fall, weather permitting.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Allan Myers Inc., will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone. There will also be safety apparatus stationed within the work zone to help protect crews and motorists.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
