​Daytime Work Covers Five Miles of Roadway

(August 25, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will start a road preservation project on MD 194 (Francis Scott Key Highway) in Taneytown, Carroll County, tomorrow, August 26. Crews will crack seal the roadway surface between Commerce Street and the Pennsylvania state line, north of Ruggles Road, a span of nearly five miles.   

Crews will work 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the project that should take four days to complete, weather permitting. The crack sealing is preventative maintenance work that will help protect the pavement from water damage and extend its service life.   

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Remac, Inc. will use a flagging operation along with signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists and guide them through the work zone. There will also be a truck mounted attenuator within the work zone to protect crews and motorists.   

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
