Overnight Maintenance Work Expected to Complete by Friday Morning

(August 5, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will conduct work to improve the driving surface of the I-97 southbound bridge approaches over New Cut Road in Anne Arundel County, tonight, Thursday, August 5. Beginning at 10 p.m., crews will perform maintenance work at the bridge joints. The work is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. Friday.

During work hours, crews will close two left lanes along southbound I-97. Drivers may use MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) or I-95 as alternate north-south routes. Customers who have questions about this work may contact the MDOT SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
