MDOT PROJECTS RECEIVE 20 AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE AT ANNUAL MARYLAND QUALITY INITIATIVE CONFERENCE

​(February 11, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) announced today that MDOT was honored with 20 Awards of Excellence from the Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) for projects completing major project development milestones or construction during 2020.
“MdQI continues to embrace innovation and partnership,” said MDOT SHA Administrator Tim Smith. “These award-winning projects represent the professionalism, ingenuity, and dedication of our MDOT SHA team members and private sector colleagues. It’s an honor to be recognized by our industry partners.”
MdQI, a consortium of agencies and associations representing Maryland's transportation industry, was founded by MDOT and private-sector representatives in 1993. This year’s MdQI Annual Conference was held virtually Feb. 9-11. 
 
The following projects and business units were recognized:

  • BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport concourse and pavement improvements (MDOT Maryland Aviation Administration), six awards.
  • Port terminal stormwater improvements (MDOT Maryland Port Administration), one award.
  • Northwest Division bus wash water reclamation (MDOT Maryland Transit Administration), two awards.
  • MARC BWI Rail Station (MDOT Maryland Transit Administration), one award.
  • I-270 Watkins Mill Road Interchange (MDOT Maryland State Highway Administration), three awards.
  • MD 213 Bridge over Old Mill Stream Branch (MDOT Maryland State Highway  Administration), one award.
  • MD 845A in Keedysville urban reconstruction (MDOT Maryland State Highway Administration), two awards.
  • I-95 at Belvidere Road Interchange study (Maryland Transportation Authority), one award.
  • Bradshaw Road Bridge over I-95 (Maryland Transportation Authority), two awards.
  • JFK Maintenance II building renovations (Maryland Transportation Authority), one award.
  • Key Highway at Light Street (Baltimore City Department of Transportation), one award.
  • Jack Street shoreline protection (County Engineers Association of Maryland/Anne Arundel County), two awards.
  • Ellicott City 2018 flood – Ellicott Mills Drive (County Engineers Association of Maryland/ Howard County), one award.
