(September 25, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) today started work on a $2.3 million bridge removal and replacement project on MD 831C (Kreighbaum Road) over Jennings Run in Corriganville.
“This bridge provides an important link for the Corriganville community to access MD 36 for emergency fire and ambulance response,” said MDOT SHA Administrator Tim Smith. “This is a great partnership with Allegany County to better support local safety and mobility while improving our existing statewide bridge infrastructure.”
MDOT SHA is partnering with Allegany County to replace the existing bridge and upon completion of the project, the County will take ownership. The existing bridge was closed to traffic due to a deteriorating surface. The current bridge, which was closed to traffic in 2016, will be replaced by a two-lane prefabricated bridge. The project is expected to be completed by October 2021.
Work will be performed by Carl Belt, Inc of Cumberland, MD. Minimal traffic impacts are expected on this project.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
