(September 24, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will be performing a traffic switch on MD 355 (Frederick Road) at West Old Baltimore Road in Clarksburg tonight, Sept. 24, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. During this time, the traffic light will be completely dark and Maryland State Police will be directing traffic.
The traffic switch will allow crews to place pavement markings and prepare for the construction of a stormwater management structure. This is part of the $9 million intersection improvement project at MD 355 and West Old Baltimore Road, which is expected to complete by the end of the year.
It also includes:
- Roadway widening and realignment
- New traffic signals
- A shared-use path along southbound MD 355
-
Installation of sidewalks along northbound MD 355

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
