(August 24, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) began setting steel beams for the new MD 355 (Frederick Road) bridge over Little Bennett Creek in Hyattstown today. The work will be performed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with flagging crews directing traffic through the work zone until mid-September.

This is for a $10.4 million project that includes the construction of a new bridge that will be three feet higher than the current structure. Crews will also restore 900 feet of Little Bennett Creek to prevent stream bank erosion. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year. Learn more about it HERE.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
