​(May 21, 2020) – The new bridge on MD 464 (Point of Rocks Road) is now open to traffic. Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) crews opened the road today.

There will be occasional single lane closures with a flagging operation in June as the contractor completes the remaining work which includes construction of a storm water management facility.

The entire project is expected to be complete this summer.
The $4.6 million project includes a new wider bridge with two 11-foot lanes to replace a poorly rated structure, as well as 5-foot shoulders to accommodate bicyclists and stabilization work in Little Catoctin Creek to reduce erosion.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Concrete General, will remove the closure and detour signs. The temporary traffic signal at the intersection of MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) and Olive School Road will be removed next week.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
