(November 26, 2019) – Today at 10 a.m., the Maryland Department
of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close US 1 (Conowingo Road) at the
Conowingo Hydroelectric Dam (Cecil/Harford County line). The total closure
is necessary for crews to make concrete repairs following an early morning
crash. Crews will reopen US 1 by noon today.
Motorists will be directed to use I-95 (John F. Kennedy Memorial
Highway) or US 40 (Pulaski Highway) as the alternate routes. Approximately
14,000 vehicles a day use this section of US 1. With holiday traffic increasing,
motorist should allow extra commuting time.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for
motorists, as well as our crews. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving
and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.
Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
