Signs Added to Alert Motorists of Right Turn Restriction along Southbound MD 30 in Manchester

(April 9, 2008) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will next week begin prohibiting right turns along southbound MD 30 (Hanover Pike) at Michelle Road and Holland Road in Manchester, Carroll County. The restriction will prevent commuter traffic from using residential neighborhoods as a cut-through to bypass the MD 30/MD 27 intersection.

Beginning Thursday, April 17, SHA will restrict right turns between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. The turn restriction will not apply to school buses. Right turns from southbound MD 30 onto Michelle and Holland roads will be permitted at all other times and on weekends. Variable message signs will be placed in advance of the new signs and flags will be placed on top of the signs to alert motorists to the new restriction.

Citizens who have questions about traffic operations along MD 30 or other State numbered routes in Carroll County may call SHA’s District 7 Office toll free at 1-800-635-5119.
