Motorists Should Expect Single Lane Closures through Early Summer

(April 9, 2008) –The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) recently began a $693,000 project to resurface approximately one-half mile along MD 108 (Clarksville Pike) between US 29 (Columbia Pike) and Columbia Road, as well as ramps in the US 29 Interchange in Columbia. SHA will complete the project by the end of June, weather permitting.

Motorists should expect nighttime single-lane closures along MD 108 between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. In addition, SHA will intermittently close ramps at the US 29/MD 108 interchange. More than 18,000 vehicles travel along MD 108 near US 29 each day Motorists should expect delays during construction.

During construction, motorists are advised to reduce speed and watch for work zones. Variable message signs, barrels, and arrow boards will be placed in advance of the work zone to alert motorists of the construction. SHA awarded the contract to Gray and Son Inc. of Timonium.
