(April 15, 2008) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) has temporarily closed all lanes of eastbound MD 100 (Paul T. Pitcher Highway) between MD 10 and Edwin Raynor Boulevard. From early reports, three bridge structures over MD 100 were struck by a front end loader being hauled by a dump truck.

SHA bridge inspectors and emergency management personnel are on site, conducting inspections of the Waterford Road (MD 648), Catherine Avenue and Edwin Raynor Boulevard bridges over eastbound MD 100 in Anne Arundel County. Inspectors will be on site throughout rush hour to ensure that the structures are in good condition prior to reopening the travel lanes to motorists.

Westbound MD 100 is open to traffic; motorists traveling along eastbound MD 100 will be detoured from eastbound MD 100 to MD 10 or MD 2.

To avoid the area, a suggested alternate route is MD 177 (Mountain Road). SHA thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation during this temporary roadway closure.
