HIGH-IMPACT

Baltimore County

HIGH-IMPACT – Outer loop I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) between US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144 (Frederick Road) – Outer loop I-695 Widening – Starting at 9 p.m., Friday, April 12, MDOT SHA will close one of the three lanes (right lane) on the outer loop I-695 until 5 a.m. Monday, April 15. The closure is necessary to shift traffic and tie into the new Edmonson Avenue Bridge. By 5 a.m. Monday, the lane will re-open, as well as BOTH ramps (outer loop I-695 to Edmonson Ave. and Edmonson Ave. ramp to the outer loop I-695), which have been closed for months. new

HIGH-IMPACT - (MDTA Project) - I-895 (Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Throughway) northbound tunnel – Bridge rehabilitation project – Northbound tunnel to be closed on April 12 until early-summer. Traffic will be put into two-way operation using the southbound tunnel. new

Major Weekend Lane Closures

Anne Arundel County

• MD 100 Bridges over MD 174 (Quarterfield Road), MD 3 (Crain Highway) and Oakwood Road – Bridge deck overlays – Singe lane closures Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Crews have started in the easterly direction and will return for the westbound bridges for the patching work. Once patching is complete, crews will close a single lane in each direction on the bridges to perform the paving operations. This will be complete by the end of June. new

Calvert/Charles County line

• MD 231 (Prince Frederick Road/Hallowing Point Road) Bridge over the Patuxent River – Drainage scupper cleaning – Single lane closure with flagging operation on Sunday between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. new

Long-Term Closures

Anne Arundel County

• Westbound MD 175 (Annapolis Road/Jessup Road) between National Business Parkway and MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) – Utility relocation – Single lane closures Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday nights through Friday mornings from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. In mid-April, utility crews will install cables across MD 175 between Carol Avenue and National Business Parkway necessitating brief 15-minute total closures between 12 midnight and 5 a.m.

• Northbound I-895 Bridge over the Patapsco Flats (Between MD 295 and the I-97/MD spur) – Bridge rehabilitation – (MDTA project) 24/7 right lane closure until summer 2019.

Cecil County
 
• MD 273 (Telegraph Road) Bridge over Big Elk Creek – Bridge replacement project – Temporary traffic signal to alternate traffic in single lane until spring 2020.
 
Baltimore City

HIGH-IMPACT - (MDTA Project) - I-895 (Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Throughway) between the tunnels and Boston Street/O’Donnell Street (exit 11) and the Holabird Avenue exit. – Bridge rehabilitation project – Northbound I-895 to close on November 27 and two-way traffic using southbound I-895. Use I-95 (Fort McHenry Tunnel) or I-695 (Francis Scott Key Bridge) as alternate routes. ALSO - The northbound bore will close late Friday, April 12 for 60 days. Traffic in two-way operation using the southbound tunnel. Project to last until 2021.
 
Baltimore County
 
HIGH IMPACT - Outer loop of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) ramp to Edmonson Avenue – Ramp closure for widening project – Motorists will be guided to I-695/MD 144 (Frederick Road) interchange and back to the inner loop I-695 to Edmonson Avenue. Edmonson Avenue ramp to the outer loop I-695 is closed and detoured until late-spring.

HIGH IMPACT - MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) at Hooks Lane/Woodholme Center Way (just north of I-695) – BGE power transmission work – On February 14, BGE’s contractor will close the left turn bay on southbound MD 140 to Hooks Lane. Northbound MD 140 at Hooks Lane will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes. This BGE work will last approximately 80 days.

• Eastbound Padonia Road ramp to northbound I-83 – Ramp closure for bridge replacement project – Motorists will be guided to Deerco Road to the I-83/Timonium Road interchange.

Cecil County

• MD 273 (Telegraph Road) Bridge over Big Elk Creek – Bridge replacement project – Temporary traffic signal to alternate traffic in single lane until spring 2020.

Frederick County

• MD 478 (Knoxville Road) Bridge over Branch of the Potomac River – Bridge replacement project – On February 25, MD 478 will close through fall 2019. Local traffic will have access up to the point of the bridge closure. Through motorists will be detoured to MD 17 (Petersville Road/Burkittsville Road) to MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) and back to MD 478. Motorists may also choose US 340 as an alternate route.

• Eastbound US 40 Alternate (Old National Pike) between Fern Lane and Ridge Road – Roadside slope repair – Right truck “climbing” lane and shoulder closed until spring 2019.

Harford County

HIGH-IMPACT - (MDTA Project) – Bradshaw Road Bridge over I-95 – Bridge rehabilitation project – Bridge to close and traffic detoured beginning March 11, 2019 until spring 2020.

Prince George’s County

HIGH-IMPACT – Southbound I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) ramp to eastbound MD 214 (Central Avenue) – Bridge replacement project – Total ramp closure with traffic using the Capital Beltway/MD 202 (Largo Road) interchange and then to MD 214 via MD 202.

• US 301 (Crain Highway) between Frank Tippett Road and Trumps Hill Road - Gas pipeline construction and installation (Washington Gas project) – Single right lane closure through spring 2019.

Somerset/Worcester County line

• US 13 (Ocean Highway) northbound over Pocomoke River at the Worcester/Somerset county line – Bridge work – Northbound US 13 bridge over Pocomoke River has been reduced to one 12-foot lane for bridge work until end of April.

Wicomico County

• MD 349 (Nanticoke Road) Rockawalkin Road – Washout/major road repair – MD 349 is closed and detoured until mid-spring.

Anne Arundel County

• MD 176 (Dorsey Road) between MD 170 (Aviation Boulevard) and MD 648 E (Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) – Resurfacing – Daytime signal lane closures between 9:00 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings.

Baltimore County

HIGH-IMPACT – Padonia Road under the I-83 Bridges – Bridge replacement project – Beginning April 14, Padonia Road to be closed occasionally overnights for bridge demolition phase between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. Motorists will be guided to the I-83/Timonium Road interchange and back to NB I-83 to Padonia Road. These occasional overnight closures are expected to last until late-May. new

• US 40 (Pulaski Highway) Bridges over the Little Gunpowder Falls (Baltimore-Harford County line) – Traffic shift for bridge rehabilitation project – On Monday, April 15, motorists should expect daytime signal lane closures. Eastbound US 40 lane closures between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and westbound closures between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Rain date is Tuesday, April 16. new

Carroll County

• MD 496 (Bachman Valley Road) between MD 30 (Hanover Pike) and Old Bachman Valley Road – Patching and resurfacing – Single lane closures from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until late-April.

Cecil County

• MD 267 (Bladen Street) Bridge over Amtrak Rail – Bridge repairs – Single lane closures guided by a flagging operation Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Howard County

• MD 144A (Frederick Road) between MD 97 (Roxbury Mills Road) and US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) – Pavement patching and repair – Single lane closure Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Project should be complete early-June. new

Montgomery County

• MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) between north of Goldmine Road and south of Holiday Drive - Bypass construction – Single lane closures Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

• I-270 between Middlebrook Road and MD 124 (Quince Orchard Road) – I-270 at Watkins Mill Road interchange construction project – Single and double lane closures possible Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 8 p.m. and 4:30 a.m.

• US 29 (Colesville Road) between I-495 (Capital Beltway) and MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) - WSSC water line replacement project - Single and double lane closures Mondays through Fridays between 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sundays through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Single lane closures Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Washington County

• I-81 between the Potomac River Bridge (West Virginia line) and MD 68/MD 63 (Lappans Road) – Highway widening project – Left lane closures Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. There may be occasional, brief total closures to move equipment and material into place between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Worcester County

• US 50 (Ocean Gateway) Bridge over Sinepuxent Bay (Harry Kelley Memorial Bridge) – Bridge repair – Single lane closures guided by a flagging operation Mondays through Fridays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
 
• MD 528 (Philadelphia Avenue/Coastal Highway) between 9th Street and 26th Street - Resurfacing – Single lane closures seven days per week between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

HIGH IMPACT - Outer loop of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) ramp to MD 542 (Loch Raven Boulevard)/Cromwell Bridge Road and the Loch Raven Blvd./Cromwell Bridge Road ramp to the outer loop I-695 - Ramp closure for pipe crossing – Ramp to be closed at 11 p.m. Friday, April 19 until 5 a.m. Monday, April 22. MD 4 (Patuxent Beach Road) Bridge over the Patuxent River (Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge) – Drainage scupper cleaning – Single lane closure with flagging operation on Sunday between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. new
