The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is performing emergency road work on MD 77 (Foxville Road) between Catoctin Hollow Road and Tower Road in Thurmont, Frederick County.

A pipe has failed and created a six-foot void in the road. Crews are planning to replace the pipe, backfill and pave the affected area.

It is currently closed and will be through Saturday morning. Local detours are in effect. Approximately 3,300 drivers use this section of MD 77 each day.
