Temporary Closure of Edmondson Avenue at the I-695 Interchange December 15-18 and One-Day Closure of Ramp from Southbound Harford Road to Westbound I-695 December 16

(December 13, 2017) – This weekend, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will have temporary road and ramp closures at two interchanges along I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Baltimore County. All lanes and ramps will be open by 5 a.m. Monday.

In Catonsville, MDOT SHA will close and detour Edmondson Avenue underneath I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) between 9 p.m. Friday December 15 until 5 a.m. Monday December 18.  The closure is necessary for crews to install steel bridge beams that will support the new bridge carrying I-695 over Edmondson Avenue.  All lanes will remain open on I-695 during the steel beam installation. Drivers will be detoured to either the I-695/Frederick Road (MD 144) interchange or the I-695/Baltimore National Pike (US 40) interchange. The work is part of the $68.7 million Southwest Outer Loop Widening Project between south of US 40​ (Pulaski Highway) and MD 144 (Frederick Road).
 

In Parkville, MDOT SHA will temporarily close and detour the ramp from southbound Harford Road (MD 147) to westbound I-695 (Beltway Outer Loop) on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Crews will perform noisy pavement quality assurance testing during the day and early evening Saturday to avoid late-night disruptions to nearby residents.  Motorists traveling from southbound Harford Road to westbound I-695 will be diverted to the ramp to eastbound I-695, through the US 1 (Belair Road) interchange and back to westbound I-695.  The pavement testing is part of SHA’s $26 million project to widen I-695 between Harford Road and Perring Parkway (MD 41).  The new lanes on I-695 opened to traffic this fall.  The Six-M Company, Inc. of Delta, PA is the contractor. 

“MDOT SHA appreciates residents’ patience and caution while traveling within State highway construction work zones and detour routes.  We ask drivers to please plan ahead for extra travel time in Catonsville and Parkville this weekend,” said MDOT SHA District 4 Engineer Wendy Wolcott.
