New Roundabout along MD 23 at Commerce Drive to Open for Traffic Tonight; Additional Construction Work to Continue Through Early Fall          
          
(August 8, 2008) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will re-open the section of MD 23 (East-West Highway) between US 1 (Hickory Bypass) and MD 24 (Rock Spring Road) to traffic at approximately 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, August 8.           
          
Developers were required to fund and construct a new roundabout along MD 23 and extended Commerce Drive to create a new connection to the Forest Hill Business Air Park. Construction work and temporary lane closures in the area will occur intermittently until early fall as crews will need to install permanent overhead lights along the new roundabout and Commerce Drive.

SHA encourages all motorists to drive responsibly and “Think Orange” while driving through work zones and detour routes by driving the speed limit and remaining alert at all times.
