Motorists Should Expect Daytime Lane Closures on MD 165 between MD 152 and MD 23

(August 2, 2016) – To provide a smoother ride for thousands of motorists, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will improve pavement on more than three miles of MD 165 (Baldwin Mill Road) in Harford County beginning next week.  SHA’s contractor, Allan Myers – MD, Inc. of Fallston, will patch, mill and resurface Baldwin Mill Road between MD 152 (Fallston Road) and MD 23 (East- West Highway) on weekdays and Saturdays this summer.

Approximately 8,000 vehicles use this section of Baldwin Mill Road each day, so drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time during daytime highway maintenance work.  There will be single lane closures with flagging operations in the work zone Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.  If necessary, crews may also work on Saturday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Weather permitting, the $1 million highway maintenance project will be complete late fall.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.

Maryland drivers can know before they go by calling 511 or visiting www.md511.org for live traffic updates, including highway construction and maintenance work zones and lane closures.

Those who have questions about SHA projects in Baltimore County may call the SHA District Four Office at 410-229-2400 or send email to shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.
