Paving on MD 140 at the Baltimore County Line and a Traffic Shift on MD 97 in Westminster
(May 9, 2016) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin final paving on the bridge approaches for the
MD 140 (Westminster Pike) Bridge over the Patapsco River in Finksburg (near the Baltimore County line). Weather permitting, SHA’s contractor will complete the paving and line striping before Memorial Day.
Motorists should expect single-lane closures on MD 140 Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews may also work on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Tonight, in Westminster, SHA shift traffic at the
MD 97 (Washington Road)/MD 32 (Sykesville Road) intersection as crews begin phase two of the construction project. While the switch is in place crews will excavate the slope area along the MD 32 northbound shoulder, install storm drain pipe and structures and place topsoil and sod. Motorists are asked to slow down while navigating the newly shifted lanes.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
A complete listing of current roadway projects is included in
e-Road Ready 2016, the online brochure. Maryland drivers can also know before they go by calling 511 or visiting
