(July 23, 2015) – This Friday night (weather permitting) the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close up to three lanes on the inner and outer loops of I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) over Ritchie Marlboro Road in Prince George’s County. The weekend lane closures are necessary for crews to repair the concrete bridge deck (driving surface).
Beginning Friday night at 9 p.m. and continuously through Monday morning, SHA’s contractor will close the I-95 lanes in this sequence:
• A single left lane at 9 p.m.;
• Two lanes at 10 p.m.;
• Three lanes at 11 p.m. continuing through 7 a.m. Saturday; and
• Two lanes will remain closed through 5 a.m. Monday morning.
SHA will also close one lane in each direction of Ritchie Marlboro Road under I-95 between 9 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday. Crews may need to completely stop traffic for up to 15 minutes to protect motorists and workers while moving construction equipment into place. SHA asks travelers to avoid the area if possible since major traffic delays are likely.
